To strengthen this commitment, we partner with Maybo, a leader in conflict management and personal safety training. Maybo equips our team with the confidence and skills to prevent and defuse challenging situations while keeping everyone safe.

This engaging, outcome-focused training helps reduce the risk of behaviours of concern and workplace violence by teaching staff how to recognise conflict, understand behaviours and reduce triggers, use safer working practices, carry out dynamic risk assessments, and apply positive approaches to de-escalation. It also covers responding to challenging behaviours and safeguarding those who may be more vulnerable.

Because the training is tailored to real-life situations, our team feels prepared and supported to provide care that is safe, respectful, and compassionate. And most importantly, our participants feel the difference, empowered to make the most of their NDIS plan, knowing they are in capable and caring hands.

Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)

Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) is a nervous system disability characterised by an extreme avoidance of everyday demands, driven by a need for autonomy and equality. For individuals with PDA, demands can trigger a fight, flight, or freeze response.

This training provides an in-depth understanding of the condition and explores practical accommodations to help individuals shift from their survival brain to their thinking brain. These supports are designed to honour the person’s autonomy and promote equality.

This course is based on staying objective and neutral. That means the 20 skills it teaches aren’t strict rules or the “right” way to handle things with a PDA child or teen. Instead, they’re tools you can try out and see what works best for the participant. The idea is to use these skills regularly for a while, then step back and see whether they’re helping the child or teen in three key areas; meeting basic needs, building connection and engagement, and managing overall nervous system stress.
